Somebody pour some water on me...

WHEW!!!! What a day!!!
It's a hot one out there! Regina is seeing a pretty hot week. Now I know for sure that we're in July (other than by the calendar, of course).
The worst part about it is that my little red Toyota Tercel lacks the one thing it needs most right now....AIR CONDITIONING!!! Needless to say, I try to park in the shade. It is a sauna in there!
The best part is that the church I work in and out of is very heavily air conditioned (I've come to call it "the Fridge"). It's guaranteed to make me have goosebumps and sometimes shiver during the summer months. I'm pretty thankful for it.

Although really, I can't complain about this heat. I live in Saskatchewan, where the winter weather is blistering cold.

Ice cream? Yes, please!!! Cold water? Sure! Outdoor pool? Be glad to!

I hope you enjoy the weather and all that comes with it in the next few months.

Cheer up, Emu Kid...

So lately I've been getting into this chap's music named Chris Carrabba and his group entitled "Dashboard Confessional". I really like his music. He's a very talented singer and songwriter. One thing I think is cool about his songs is that he respects the female gender. Although some of his stuff can be sketchy at times (especially outside the bonds of marriage), I appreciate his humbleness and care for girls, especially in relationships.

I guess it was Chris who they say started (or at least was a central point) to this whole "EMO culture". Emo, just in case you may be wondering, is short for "emotional rock". He apparently brought the Emo genre into a different light due to his "more uplifting, love won" lyrics, rather than dark, depressing songs as was in the past. It seems like this whole "emo" thing is like one big diary of expressing emotions. Quite an interesting take on things, and seemingly in-line with Western culture nowadays.

Emo aside, I like the rockin' guitar riffs on this album and the searing, melodic vocals that Carrabba presents. I try not to consider myself emo, but I find myself appreciating the music more and more. Somebody help me!!! Intervention!!! Intervention!!!

What's next? The "side-swooped" hair and tight, black, apparel? Say it isn't so!

(Ok, so I don't look like this for real, but I last year, I did get into a fight with a hair straightener, and guess who won? Thanks be to k-dock and shana for the doo)

And the Stanley Cup goes to...???

My best guess is Ottawa in 6 games, with a final score in the sixth of 3-1. They have a really good team this year.

Go Sens!

School's in for summer

So this week, I began a Seminary Modular class @ Briercrest. "The Sermon on the Mount with Carl Hinderager. Great class. It's only been two days, but it's been a rockin' time. Solid study of the Word.
I'm commuting from Regina to the C-port every day (1 hour drive), because quite frankly, I love my wife, and I miss seeing her. We've both been here and there and everywhere over the last few weeks, and time together is pretty crucial. Marriage is a wonderful thing.
Back to school again. This will hopefully be the beginning of an MDiv program via some school that is yet to be determined. For now, Briercrest will do. Maybe later I'll transfer. Any suggestions anyone?

Ouch...Soccer can be dangerous

Face the Fears

What hold has come against me
That this war begins inside of me
All my fears soak into the courage I thought I had
And I am defeated before the fight
Wrecked and kicked to nothin
Faced by weakness and erased by doubts
Yet the harm that haunts
is only by me
And I have lived to see greater days
Flee! Flee, you sinful side!
Depart from me, and take your strength,
which is I in my weakness
with you, and be no more
Fly, temptation, Fly! Return thy forked tongue
to serpents mouth, and be shut
Darts that fly will be shielded by faith
and armor that is of God's smithery
I in him shall not be felled, or felled once more
Him in I is strength to conquer
Yet i in I is weak to fall
You, O Lord, are strength and shield
Preserve my love and my life
Cover me in salt
And sing over me with joy
For I long to see your work done
Not mine
Fill me with fight for fight's sake
And do not let me
Let you down
